Eagles, Tom Petty, RUSH playing at Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre in Alpharetta Georgia
January 25th, 2008 categories: Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre Alpharetta
WOW! That’s all I can say! Three of my all time favorite acts are the first acts announced for the inaugural season of Alpharetta, Georgia’s new Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park. For those of you that have been under a rock this place is destined be the premier go to outdoor venue for the Atlanta area. This venue boasts:
- 12,000 seating capacity
- 1200 trees surrounding the venue, boasting mature hardwood trees on the lawn even
- Around 40 flat screen TVs in the plaza areas
- Exclusive VIP area and VIP parking
- Huge projection screens near the stage
- Two story restrooms…ladies think short lines for bathroom breaks
- Upscale concessions including a variety of foods
- All this just across GA400 from the North Point Mall ….think dozens of restaurants for pre-concert dining.
Here is the show order for recently annouced shows:
- Opening show on Saturday, May 10th will be the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra performing under conductor Robert Spano.
- Wed May 14 * Fri May16 * Sat May 17 * Tue May 20, 2008- The EAGLES (These are the US kick off performances for their upcoming Long Road Out of Eden Tour)
- Wed July 9, 2008 Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers
- Tues July 22, 2008 RUSH
You can watch the amphitheatre construction via webcam by clicking here
That’s it for now. What do you think? Is this Atlanta’s next great outdoor venue or what?
Love to hear your comments. Who would you like to see annouced next?

Deryk, I am happy for you all down in Atlanta to have a new Amphitheatre opening. Sounds like some great shows, might have to take a drive from Chattanooga to see the Eagles or Tom Petty. I hope you enjoy the shows. Will you be at Family Reunion? If you are, look for me I will be a bearded guy in a wheelchair. I should be easy to pick out of a crowd of 8,000!
